Galerie Architektury Brno a Fakulta architektury VUT v Brně zvou na přednášku „Manifest bydlení: za udržitelnou sociální architekturu“ londýnské architektky Geraldine Dening. Přednáška je doprovodným programem k aktuální výstavě Gabu Heindl: Městské konflikty – Manifest bydlení. Akce se uskuteční v úterý 8. února 2022 v 19:00 online. Přednáška bude v angličtině. Po prezentaci bude následovat diskuse s architektkou Gabu Heindl nad Manifestem bydlení.

GERALDINE DENING: MANIFEST BYDLENÍ: ZA UDRŽITELNOU SOCIÁLNÍ ARCHITEKTURU
Geraldine Dening je spoluzakladatelkou a ředitelkou organizace Architects for Social Housing (ASH) [Architekti pro sociální bydlení] a autorizovanou architektkou s vlastní praxí v Londýně. Také vyučuje architekturu na DMU v Leicesteru, kde vede moduly odborné praxe a ateliér designu.
Mezi nedávné projekty ASH patří návrhy a studie proveditelnosti dostaveb a úprav bydlení Central Hill Estate v Crystal Palace v reakci na záměr demolice jejich domů a St Raphael’s Estate v londýnském Brentu, kde se jim podařilo zabránit demolici 760 obecních bytů; a ve West Kensington a Gibbs Green Estates v rámci žádosti o převedení (the Right to Transfer) sídliště do komunitního vlastnictví.
Geraldine také koncipovala a koordinovala Open Garden Estates: sérii akcí pořádaných na sídlištích ohrožených demolicí, a jako vedoucí architektka ASH v současné době spolupracuje s řadou bytových družstev na zkoumání nových forem komunitně vedeného rozvoje.

The Brno Gallery of Architecture and the Faculty of Architecture at BUT cordially invite you to attend a lecture “A Housing Manifesto: For a Sustainable Socialist Architecture” held by London-based architect Geraldine Dening. The lecture is an accompanying programme to the current exhibition Gabu Heindl: Urban Conflicts – A Housing Manifesto. The event will take place online on Tuesday 8 February 2022 at 19:00 CET. The lecture will be held in English. The presentation will be followed by a talk of Gabu Heindl about the Housing Manifesto.

GERALDINE DENING: A HOUSING MANIFESTO: FOR A SUSTAINABLE SOCIALIST ARCHITECTURE
Geraldine Dening is the co-founder and Director of Architects for Social Housing (ASH) and a qualified architect with her own practice based in London. She is also a Senior lecturer in Architecture at DMU in Leicester, running modules in Professional Practice and teaching design studio.
Recent projects with ASH include designs and feasibility studies for additional housing and improvements to Central Hill Estate in Crystal Palace in response to the proposal to demolish their homes and to St Raphael’s Estate in Brent, London, where they succeeded in helping to prevent the demolition of 760 council homes; and to West Kensington and Gibbs Green Estates as part of their application for the Right to Transfer the estates into community ownership.
She also devised and coordinated Open Garden Estates: a series of events hosted by estates threatened with demolition; and as ASH’s lead architect, she is currently working with a number of Housing Co-operatives to explore new forms of community-led development.
